My blog! ☆
This is my blog where I'll post stuff worth talking about... and my art as well!
go back to blog entranceMy obsession over rhythm games
Contains mild swearing!!!
Hello guys, welcome to another blog post! Hope you've been doing well. Before we start, I'd like to say that at the time of writing this, I have gathered 5 followers, each with their own awesome sites, and entered the Webmaster Webring! Thank you for accepting me in the Neocities community, you guys are awesome! :D
Recently I've re-entered my rhythm games phase. I left rhythm games for a while since I had simply no time left for them, but since school is over I have more time to grind on these games and rediscover the passion (and the stress) I had for them. Rhythm games are very hard to get into, but feel a lot more rewarding than other games - nothing is granted and you have to grind every difficulty to get that sweet FC. I love the challenge they offer to the player and the music in it which usually sounds freaking awesome. Rhtyhm games are the only actual games that I still grind on to this day.
If you're looking for an in-depth explanation on almost all rhythm games, I reccomend this video!
Rhythm games that I tried or wanna try (in no particular order)
- Sound Voltex (tried in Japan). Incredibly fun and challeging! I wish I could play it again, but the home controllers are way too expensive. There are two good alternatives to emulate SDVX at home: K-Shoot MANIA, which is only available on Windows : ( and Unnamed Sound Voltex Clone, which supports Windows, macOS, Linux and apparently Raspberry Pi, but needs to be built with terminal commands.
- Taiko no Tatsujin (tried in Japan, still play it on my tablet when storage doesn't kill me). A game based off Japanese taiko"s". Very child friendly (but contains creepy misteries --> check this video for more info)
- Pop n' Music (tried in Japan, TRAUMATIZED me from how suprisingly difficult it is). This 7 KEY game is insanely hard even on low difficulties!! HOW? got n o idea!!
- CHUNITHM (tried in Japan). Game that feels like smashing a piano. Very fun!
- Maimai (tried in Japan). Washing machine game is VERY real!! Very fun but also tiring; you have to move a lot!! Also, I think there's an actual washing machine based off the game controllers! LMAO
- Funky Friday (tried on Roblox)FNF fan game. Very good but very limited difficulty.
- Sound Space (tried on Roblox) A game where you only use your mouse. You need LOTS of patience with this one! I'm not a big fan of rhythm games that only use your mouse, so I haven't played it a lot.
- Project RUSHER (tried on Roblox)Similar to Muse Dash, but with charts full of gimmicks. Underrated Roblox game!
- RoBeats (tried on Roblox) Not a big fan due to the 3d scrolling and slider accuracy, but still a solid game.
- Friday Night Funkin' This game probably made me fall in love with 4k!
- Arcaea(tried it recently). Very fun and similar to SDVX, but the insane amount of paid songs in the game disappointed me (aleph-0 behind a paywall for example :( )
- Phigros(still have to try). Apparently this game is 100% free, but also quite heavy for my tablet, which is why I haven't tried it yet.
- osu!(still have to try). I've been following the osu! community for a while now and despite the highly competitive part, the game doesn't seem that bad. I'm not sure if I should try it though.
- Other 4k games (Etterna, Stepmania, etc.)(still have to try). I actually really like 4k games! I should download one of them.
I also wanted to add Geometry Dash, but I can't tell if it's more of a music game or a rhythm game. People have been arguing over that for YEARS, actually! ---> Check out this video that explains the situation a little better.
